A carved stone tablet from a temple that hasn't been built yet — cuneiform script running all four borders tells the story of Parvati playfully covering the eyes of the god Shiva, causing his wisdom to burst forth through the third eye. Which is exactly what you see in the image itself: two hands framing an eye that has just opened, a beam of light shooting upward into a deep blue field, two celestial orbs floating in the corners, and great coiling forms spreading outward below like the first waves of something that can't be stopped once it starts.
Printed on white aluminum, the surface gives the image a crisp flatness that reads like a rubbing taken from stone — the warm ochre of the carved border against the cool blue interior holds the contrast the piece needs.
